At The Riding School at Berry Plains, we pride ourselves on our sense of community. We have a welcoming and inclusive culture and encourage our students to support and encourage one another. We also regularly organize social events and activities for our students to bond and have fun. We will not tolerate bullying or other inappropriate behavior that makes others uncomfortable.
For everyone's safety, we require each student to have their own properly fitted riding helmet, paddock or tall riding boots and appropriate breeches or jodhpurs for their lessons. Please no dangling jewelry, ear buds, headphones or hooded sweatshirts or jackets with strings. These can be caught and cause injury.
Enrollment is billed monthly through PayPal for everyone's convince. There is also a link on our homepage for single payments for horsemanship classes and special events. These fees are non-refundable, even in the case of multiple cancellations.
Payments are due at the first of the month. If fees are not current by the student's first lesson, the Instructor has the right to cancel the sessions.
We work hard to maintain farm and horse's tack to a high standard. We expect parents to encourage students to handle the equipment carefully as intended. Please clean up after yourself. If something is broken or needs attention, Please inform your instructor as soon as possible.
Please park in the designated areas. Students and visitors are allowed in the tackroom, grooming areas and arena. This is a working breeding farm with stallions, broodmares and young horses. All of which are not safe for amateurs to pet, touch or visit with. We please ask that you do not wander around our private farm, buildings or main house.
We all want to capture the special moments with horses. however, we do not allow the taking photos and videos during lessons. It can be distracting for the students. If you want to capture media, please let your instructor know at the beginning of the lesson and they can set aside special time for you to be able to photograph. At that time, they will invite you into the arena to shoot.
For everyone's privacy, please do not take photos of other people or their children. Please do not post photos of children not your own on social media.
Sometimes the weather keeps us from riding. If this happens, we will substitute a horsemanship lesson in place. We strongly believe that well rounded equestrians can properly care for a horse as well as they ride. If lessons need to be cancelled due to extreme conditions, we will do our best to give you the longest notice possible.
If a student has to cancel, 24 hour notice is required to be eligible for a makeup session.
One makeup session is included in monthly enrollment. This should be scheduled with the instructor directly.
It is important for students to have full concentration on their lesson.
Small children may need the help of their parents for lifting tack, carrying, or help leading their pony. Parents may want to stay ringside for Toddlers on Ponies sessions.
Older children will be more independent, however, we ask that parent's do not leave the farm while their child is riding in case they would fall or otherwise need you.
